About the Artist
“I create to give form to what I feel but can’t name.”
Christel Bjerke is a self-taught mixed-media artist from Helena, Montana — which means she learned everything from the work itself. Years of layering paint, materials, and instinct onto large-scale canvases taught her what no curriculum could: that the most honest art lives in the surfaces that refuse to be smooth.
Her paintings explore transformation and resilience through texture, color, and the kind of landscapes that get under your skin and stay there.
Her work is currently featured in Seek the Sun at the Holter Museum of Art, Helena, Montana.
